Succession Planning

How do you do succession planning? How do you know you are investing in people that are motivated to succeed in the position? Some companies use MAPP to identify the candidates for the line management/supervisor position when they are hiring for the entry-level position. Some companies use MAPP as a selection criteria before a person is invited to participate in the management development, executive development program.

Have your "high potential" people take the MAPP assessment. Match those individuals to your supervisory/management/executive positions. Write succession and development plans so that the employees are ready for openings in their highest matching areas when those jobs become available. Be confident in your selection, development and succession planning process!
